Chen Haisheng, born in 1977, is currently a professor of propulsion and power with Institute of Engineering Thermophysics (IET) at Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Before joining IET, CAS in November 2009 , he was employed as a visiting research fellow/senior visiting research fellow/research fellow with University of Leeds (2005-2009), an associate professor with IET,CAS (2004-2005), a postdoctoral research fellow with Beihang University (2002-2004) after he completed his PhD in Engineering Thermophysics with IET, CAS in 2002 and the Bachelor degree study in Chemical Engineering with Xi’an Jiaotong University in 1997.
His research includes:
Micro/ Nano scale flow, heat transfer and chemical reaction
Novel phase change energy storage systems and materials
Energy related process intensification
Coupling of external flow dynamics and trajectory of aircrafts
Aerodynamics and energy loss control of internal flow in turbomachinery
Complex ventilation systems and key equipments
He has acted as a principal investigator for over 10 projects granted by China Postdoctoral Foundation, Excellent PhD Foundation of CAS, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Yorkshire Forward under Yorkshire Enterprise Fellowship, China-UK Cooperation Project, IET Director Innovation Foundation, Overseas Visiting Foundation of CAS etc. He has also been involved as a co-investigator for over 30 research projects. His research has led to over 100 technical papers, 12 patents (4 international patents) and 3 book chapters (2 in English). Among the technical papers, over 50 were published in national and international refereed journals, over 30 were indexed by Thomson Science Citation Index Database (SCI) (over 130 citations by Jan.2010), over 40 were indexed by Elsevier Engineering Index Database (EI) and over 30 were presented in international conferences. He also acts as a regular reviewer for various internal national refereed Journals as well as a committee member of academic conferences. He has received 5 prizes/awards on provincial/ministerial level such as Yorkshire Enterprise Fellowship (2008), Excellent PhD Thesis Prize of CAS (2005), Science and Technology Award of National Defense (2004) and President Scholarship of CAS (2002). |
