Education and Appointments:

Liu JianJun Born in 1964. Received Bachelor Degree of Thermal Engineering in Tsinghua University in 1987,followed by a Master Degree in 1989 in Engineering Thermophysics from IET, CAS. He studied turbomachinery aerodynamics from 1994 to 1998 in Cambridge University and received PhD degree in 1998. He is a member of Technical Committee of Aerospace Power for Turbomachinery, Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He won a second-class award of Excellent Young Scientist in Chinese Academy of Sciences. His research interests concern turbomachinery aerothermodynamics and computational fluid dynamics. The quasi-three dimensional numerical method and computational code developed by him for the solution of S1 stream surface flows was ever adopted by the institutes of former Ministry of Aerospace of China. The code is also a part of quasi-three dimensional design module in a fully three dimensional aero-thermal design system for multiple stage steam turbines. He further developed the advanced numerical actuator disk model for the coupling flow calculations in the whole annulus between turbomachinery core components of blading and the adjacent non-axisymmetric inlet and exhaust components. He proposed the principles for the aerodynamic design of radially discharging exhaust hood of axial turbines. The numerical method and computational code for the solution of three-dimensional viscous flows developed by him have been applied to the prediction and analysis of complex flows in aero engine intakes, steam turbine exhaust hoods, multiple blade rows and turbine blades with cooling. He has published more than forty technical papers in the national and international journals and proceedings.
